We will have a factory in Ireland, because that is where we will get our potatoes. There will not be an actual store, we will only sell to bars and grocers. Objectives

The objectives for my company are to create a product of delicious quality and value that people can build friendships and a lifetime with. I want to instill quality, value and trust over fast, cheap and easy. I want my customers to believe that with ever bag I produce, it was all made with love and care.

My product is packaged Potato farls. The potato farl dish (for a family serving)consist of 4 potatoes peeled and halved, 1 pinch of salt, 1/4 cup of all purpose flour, and 1 table spoon of melted butter. Being that the potato farl is popular in home, I decided to make my non - perishable bar food item something that my target audience is already comfortable with; potatoes, but packaged. My potato chips, or "taytos", as the Irish calls them, are flavored with cheese, sour cream and chives. These toppings are very popular on baked potatoes all over the world, so most people can already imagine what the flavor will taste like. My snack will be packaged like a normal bag of potato chips. With the chives included, I will consider my snack to be considered more of a gourmet snack, cooked with all natural ingredients. That is why my snack will be priced at $5.00. Customers won't mind paying for it because of the value and quality of the snack.

My competitors will be first the Brand "Tayto" with seems to be as big in Ireland as Frito Lays is big in America. They have several different flavors to choose from like cheese and onion, salt and vinegar and prawn cocktail. There are also other brands like Keogh's and Jackson Honest who also carry the flavor cheese % onion and sea salt. Besides the actual potato chips, my other competitors will be the "chip" fries companies. Smith's Scampi Fries, Boulder Canyon, Snikkidy Baked Fries, and Andy Capp's Fries are the top companies. These companies all have been around for a long time and have earned the top spots as Ireland's favorite snacks. It will be hard for my company to compete with that. All these brand are averaging in price around $3.29 - $5.00. I will price my chips/taytos at $5.00 because they are gourmet, however, I don't want to price too much higher then the leading brands. The Mission for my company, FARLS O' BEYONT, is to serve a gourmet snack that can provide a sense of "home" through the taste, quality and freshness. My snack is here to satisfy a man who spends most of his time at his neighborhood bar watching sports and hanging out with friends. That is exactly what comes to mind, when I think of Ireland. Guys at a bar, having fun socializing and drinking. Whatever the reason this man spends most of his time at bars, he will have access to a snack that can suffice his appetite as he drinks his beer. My snack is meant to bring happiness and good flavor to the snack shelf at the bar. We don't just want you to give us your money, we want you to be happy that you spent your money.
WEEK 8 EOC The Adventure
The Adventure
I was on my way to Paris for Fashion Week in my hot air balloon all the way from San Francisco, when in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, a monstrous storm came about. The Thunder, lightning and big fat rain drops coming in from every direction, slapping me in the face, ruining my makeup, eyelashes, full length mink and suede thigh high boots. The water took me down where I fell into a ship full of dirty stinking pirates! Good thing my designer umbrella could turn into a Samurai sword. It was 35 of them vs me. We fought for 3 days and 3 nights until I started to battle the Captain, he lost control of the ship and we crashed into a rock. The ship shred into a hundred pieces. I climbed on top of some wood from the broken ship and was stranded at sea for five whole days. I was starving to death, as I fell asleep. I woke up on the shore of Ireland where I was hit in the face with the flavors of cheese, sour crème, and chives. I definitely missed Fashion Week.

Implementation Evaluation Control

What would happen if I really did this? Would people buy it ? Implementation is to actually carry out the plan. "For effective implementation and control, the marketing plan should define how progress toward objectives will be measured." Marketing: An Introduction by Armstrong/Kotler, page MP2. If I really created this snack, I believe people really would buy it. There is always plenty of room on shelves for different brands and flavors of packaged potato chips. My snack is marketed towards bars in Ireland. In Ireland, bars are always full. There might be married guys at the bar, hanging out with friends watching sports eating snacks and drinking. There also may be guys who are single at the bar wanting to have a snack and a drink. This guy might buy my snack and possibly share it with a possible new female friend. The flavor I chose is cheese, sour crème and chives, so couples can feel comfortable eating my snack because it won't make their breath smell as bad as the very popular garlic and onion flavors in Ireland. Also the potato chip/farl is the most popular bar snack in Ireland. There are more than a few brands that will be my snack competition, but none with my chosen flavor. Potatoes is the number one source of food in Ireland, so the customer would be very comfortable with my snack. Eating my snack will be just like eating a loaded baked potato.

EOC week 9 Creative content
Since I have been working on this final project, it has been very
difficult for me. The project is not really something I am interested
in. It is forcing my mind to work overtime in ways I never had to
because my major comes naturally to me. This project has not been fun
for me and I have been finding myself stuck for over a week.
However, now that I get to be creative, in ways that I am good at, I
think things are going to get better for me with this project.
The way I am going to present my work is by actually making my snack.
Cooking is something that I do very often, well and actually enjoy. I've
never fried my own potatoes, but I have mastered homemade mashed
potatoes and deep fried potatoes, so I know I can do it.
To fry potato chips, I will first have to get all of my ingredients
which are: whole potatoes, cooking oil, powdered cheese, powdered sour
cream flavor and packaged chives. The potatoes will have to be cut in
super thin slices, then they can be fried. After that, I can add the
flavor.
The package that I created on Adobe Photoshop for my potato farls, will
be printed out and pasted on a sample bag that I will dress up and bring
to class.
There will also be a digital power point of pictures of the steps i took
to accomplish my goal.

Being that the potato farl is popular in home, I decided to make my non - perishable bar food item something that my target audience is already comfortable with; potatoes, but packaged.
My target audience is specifically an Irish bar hoping man, so my company name includes an Irish lingo word. My company's name is Farls O' Beyont. "Beyont is an all encompassing word for any place that isn't the place you're in at the moment. It can refer to the other end of the room, or to the other side of the world." Potato farls is something that you usually need to cook at home or buy hot, and that's what makes my company so special because it's farls "in the now".

Social Media and Job Hunting
When I think of job hunting, I think of job searching engines like Monster and LinkedIn. Facebook however, never crosses my mind. Technology is taking over the world, whether some of us like it or not. I do see job posts on Facebook some times down my newsfeed, but I just scroll past it because it makes me think that it's just another boring add or Spam. In my "Marketing: An Introduction" book it states that "Technological advances are perhaps the most dramatic forces affecting today’s marketing strategies...The technological environment is perhaps the most dramatic force now shaping our destiny. Technology has released such wonders as antibiotics, robotic surgery, miniaturized electronics, laptop computers, and the Internet.", and now, job searching through social media. All of these old companies have to conform and understand the new way of life in order to stay afloat in their industry. And a lot of companies are doing just that.
According to the article "Recruiters Troll Facebook for Candidates they like", I thought to myself, "I never want my future or current job to see my personal, social Facebook." When I'm on Facebook, I just want to share videos and clown with my friends. In the article some people said they didn't want that attention either. "Users tell the company (LinkedIn)they want to keep their personal and professional networks separate.", However, job hunting through social media, Facebook, is growing rapidly. Companies that usually use job search engines like LinkedIn, are starting to use Facebook more and more to seek out possible candidates. They are even creating Apps connected to Facebook to grab people.
"While VMware still relies on LinkedIn to recruit higher-level executive talent, Mr. Staney said that Facebook users tend to spend more time on the service and are easier to reach than LinkedIn users. Since February, the number of monthly active users on its Facebook page more than tripled to 11,000". I don't really agree with it, but it is true that most people spend much more time of their day on Facebook than anything. it's a great way to reach people and grab people's attention.

means". Many people may not want to use their current Facebook pages to be linked to future jobs, but they just might make new profiles just for the sole purpose of finding a new job.

Eyelash App for Android and IPhone
Aside from Fashion, I absolutely love Beauty. They go hand and hand. I ultimately want to have my own fashion company, but I also want to have my very own line of fictitious eyelashes. I love my false lashes, I wear them everyday, they are apart of me. It's almost like I can't live without them. I don't even like to go to the grocery store without them.
I buy my lashes from the local beauty supply store. They are very inexpensive, but work just as well as MAC eyelashes. I've tried different brands, with different price points, and ended up disappointed on more than one occasion. (That is why I stick to my same number of lashes. I'll buy 10 pair at time). I stick with the same pair because I don't want to buy other styles and end up applying them and HATING them, like so many times before!!!
While I love my fictitious lashes, I also love my Snap Chat App. Snap Chat has a face focus gadget on it's camera where it can add face filters to your face. Right now, a favorite among my friends is the puppy dog face filter. It adds a cute puppy nose, ears and a licking tongue.
I figure if Snap Chat can add all of those face filters, then why can't I?
I was dreaming ,and I thought of an App that beauty queens, like myself would love! I was imagining, with my own luxurious brand of fictitious lashes, I can sell them through my App with face filters!!!

Not Following me? I wasn't following me for a second when I thought it up either. But what if my App allowed you to try on my eyelashes before you actually purchased them??
With a face filter on my App's camera, I can let you see what the product looks like on your face before you waste your money, before you purchase and those particular lashes just weren't a fit for you.
All you would have to do is go on my company's App:
Click on the camera button
Hold down the camera button
Then start scrolling to the left and you can try on every last pair of eyelashes!! You can see how these eyelashes look on you before you even buy them!!

Millennials: The 83 million children of the baby boomers
Millennials (also called Generation Y or the echo boomers). Born between 1977 and 2000, these children of the baby boomers number 83 million, dwarfing the Gen Xers and larger even than the baby boomer segment. This group includes several age cohorts: tweens (aged 9–12), teens (13–18), and young adults (19–32). With total purchasing power of more than $733 billion, the Millennials make up a huge and attractive market.
“All generations are comfortable with technology, but this is the generation that’s been formed by technology,” says a Yahoo! executive. For them, “it’s not something separate. It’s just something they do.” This is definitely a true statement. I literally can not live without my phone! Neither can any of my peers. I love taking pictures all day with my amazing HTC phone camera, I love keeping in contact with friends from home on social media and I love talking and texting. I keep memorabilia and important things that i need to remember on a everyday basis locked in my phone and laptop. If i don't have my phone, I get uncomfortable and feel like I'm missing a big part of... life! Two weeks ago I was on a trip with friends, and while we were in the hotel elevator this guy (definitely a baby boomer) said to us "Do you guys actually interact?". He said this to us because we were all looking down at our phones reviewing the pictures we had just took, trying to figure out which ones were good enough to post to social media. We are glued to our phones 24/7, however,we are multitasking!

Atlassian
Atlassian is a successful company that creates innovative products for software developers and project managers. Some of their products are JIRA Software, Bitbucket, Confluence, and HipChat. Atlissian is used worldwide by millions of people everyday. They are based in Sydney, Australia and San Francisco, CA. The company was started in 2002 by Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar in Sydney. One of the company's key quotes is, "Be the change you seek". "All Atlassians should have the courage and resourcefulness to spark change – to make better our products, our people, our place. Continuous improvement is a shared responsibility. Action is an independent one."Partnering with charity organization, Room to Read, they have most definitely have been living by those quotes. Atlassian donates $10 of every software starter license to help build libraries in developing countries. In 2011, they helped raise one million dollars. Another quote by Atlassian that touched me is "Build with heart and balance". Which is why this charity work in particular stuck out to me because I never really hear about major corporations speak of having a "heart", or actually giving back with a good cause. It seems like companies just want your money, but researching this company, they're more than a company, they spoke very highly of being a "team". With the new technology these days, all I ever hear my younger brother's teacher talk about is technology (the importance of having a cell phone) I hardly ever see him with a book from the school library for an assignment. Libraries are still very important and all children should be able to have access to them for their learning, studies and future. I had access to them and it's one of the main good memories I have of being a kid, visiting the library. Sshhhhhhhhh!
